Snoring with sleep apnea

My Husband has severe sleep apnea and snores like a freight train. He can not wear the mask for the cpap machine because of he has severe post tramic stress syndrome from the Vietnam war. I am at a lost what to do with him. I try to fall asleep before him but that isn't always the case since I have asthma that acts up without warning. Does anyone have any suggestios. The VA wants to do implants into his soft palate to improve the snoring or shorten the soft palate to increase the opening to his air passage. I will not let them do the shorting surgery because I had cleft palate surgery as a child and the recovery it dreadful.

Have you and your husband considered a dental device to treat his apnea?

Have a consult with a sleep dentist…one who specializes in treating apnea patients. There are many oral dental devices on the market today. They don't work for everyone and the severity of his apnea and his point of obstruction will have to be taken in to consideration to determine which dental appliance may work best.
